The Man Of The Hour
I am Dwight Almony, the owner and Lead Coach for Take Two Financial Coaching.
I grew up in a small rural town in Maryland in the 1960s and 1970s. My father was a storekeeper, and my mother was a homemaker most of her life. While we always had what we needed, extras were minimal. We lived relatively content until a fateful August morning in 1979 when my father passed away from a heart attack in his sleep.
Our lives turned upside down because my dad was the sole breadwinner and handled all of the financial issues for the family. Not only were we faced with the loss of a husband and father, but we would also learn he had only enough life insurance to cover his burial expenses and some bills. In addition, he did not have a Will. His death set in motion a lifetime of financial struggles for all of us because we lacked the knowledge and guidance necessary to start our adult life financially sound. Fortunately, we found Financial Peace University (FPU). The lessons we learned dramatically changed our lives and future.
When I took FPU in early 2018, I had over $60,000 in debt and a car lease. Since then, I have paid over $51,000 of that debt (including the car).
Seeing how the principles of FPU helped me and knowing how many others struggle as I did, I was inspired to become an FPU Coordinator and a Master Financial Coach through Ramsey Solutions in 2020. I find it very rewarding to help others learn how to change the direction of their financial lives and live free from the stresses of debt, living paycheck-to-paycheck, and not having a path to reach their dream life.
